While I agree that in some cultures and in some eras women were revered and protected, that is not always the case. Also, when the entire tribe or village protected women and children, both were safer and lived to produce more offspring than when one man owning his wife and children came into fashion. In fact, statistically, most murders of women are by their partners. Thank you for providing perspective, though. It’s true that in modern western society virginity is no longer an issue. However, in some cultures women can still be killed if they are not virgins before marriage. As humans we still have a ways to go.
