This says it all. I’ve had many of your same experiences. We differ in that I decided not to move to where he lived, even though it was the place my soul feels at home. But I knew I couldn’t count on him, so I stayed near family and friends. I did facilitate their relationship for as long as possible. Perhaps I’ll write about that.
