Social capital can be developed without money. I have used social capital to give my son a jump start in college. Granted, that’s partly white privilege, although he is Black. He still wound up owing lots of money in student loans, but he was able to get into a good school because I used to work years before for the man who became President of that school. My son still had to have the SAT scores and pass muster on the basketball team. To further clarify, I grew up poor in a small town. I clawed my way out and never made enough money, but always realized knowing good people is important.
