…t. However, the instinct has already been formed, and promiscuous women continue to carry a burden. You can complain all that you want, but even though the original causes for these instincts have been eliminated it will take (figuratively) another 10,000 years for them to disappear.
I really find it hard to understand why we work so hard to demonize every natural human instinct.

Possibly so, Edward. But there are actual laws declaring women and children as the property of men. Also, In slavery times, the children of the plantation owner and the slave women he impregnated were literally his property.
