Oh yeah. When my son was that age he asked why his Dad and I got divorced. I gave the standard but true response that there were too many things we didn’t agree on, but we still liked each other. Or something like that. I left out that we were never married. An hour later I told him the truth about that. After a hundred more questions along the lines of “Why did you lie,” he forevermore referred to that as “the time you lied to me.”
