I've written about this, too. It's the theory that make the most sense.

The theory is that it was advantageous for human females to have multiple partners and paternal uncertainty because then the multiple partners would all have potential connections to their offspring and those multiple partners would share food with the mother and children. It was sharing network, not a strict biological nuclear family.
