I worked in a prison as counseling intern. It was also private, and supposed to be for “first-time non-violent offenders.” THAT wasn’t true! But I mostly felt safe, in spite of being alone with groups of prisoners. They were usually the ones offering to protect me. I was pregnant at the time. I did once step between 2 arguing female inmates before the guard could get in. I was told to NEVER do that again, and I didn’t.
