I understand your points. However, what if those assclowns had gotten through to Pelosi, Shumer, and Pence? As you are trained in riot control, you know mob mentality can spiral. It did in this case, and it was sheer good fortune that they didn't get the access they wanted to do more damage. Death and assault on officers was bad enough.
