I have clients who couldn’t get D&Cs when they found out the fetus they were carrying was dead. They had to go home and wait it out and hope they didn’t bleed to death. I have others trying to get pregnant with IVF. If they miscarry, they too will have to do so and hope they don’t bleed to death. These are real women. When I miscarried many years ago, I was able to get a D&C in the hospital, instead of having to walk around carrying a dead fetus and hoping I wouldn’t get sepsis. In Texas doctors can’t do D&Cs for women whose fetuses die.
