I assure you, a sex positive therapist has to be very open or the people they work with will pick up on it. There are some issues I am less comfortable with, but I share that and refer out of necessary. Oddly enough, in answer to your implication, I do have gay, lesbian and transgender friends as well. However, as you point out, we each have society ingrained prejudices and biases. Immersing ourselves in other cultures helps us both see, face up to and root out our prejudices as well as become aware of what others who are not like us experience. Plus, we initially get to feel what is like to be the outsider or the “other” which we can also use as a growth experience.
