Good advice, Hogan. I approached a T.V. star at a bar in Austin to tell her I liked her shoes. She was standing with friends and her glacial stare was terrifying as I approached, but then as I said her shoes were cool, she briefly smiled and I went back to my seat. I met Andrea Palecki in that same bar, but didn't know who she was until we'd been talking to each other for awhile on adjacent bar stools. Turned out we have mutual friends. That's the best way.
