As I finished reading this insightful story, I remember that everyone has a story that will break your heart. Your guide, obviously. Perhaps the mother of the annoying duo has a fatal illness, and this was on her bucket list. Still no excuse for them berating the guide, but it could explain them hugging her as they left.
